Overview

Medium pink, loosely double, fragrant blooms on a 4-6′ very disease resistant, very hardy plant. Sets a few hips. Zone 2b. Hybrid Rugosa. Bred by Dr. Felicitas Svejda, 1964. Introduced by Agriculture Canada, Ottawa, Ontario (Central Experimental Farm), 1979 as a rose in their Explorer Series Collection. HMF says that Jens Munk was a Norwegian explorer born in the town of Arendal on June 3rd 1579 (thanks for the correction Brit W.) who reached Hudson Bay in 1619. However, out of his entire crew, only Munk, an older man, and a young boy managed to survive their first winter in the new land and miraculously sailed back to Denmark, reaching Copenhagen on Christmas Day 1620.
