Note: Fara Shimbo is the same as Nightmoss 1 in that series This is a well-behaved shrub in the typical Gallica style, remaining compact and not suckering excessively. The foliage is grass green and gently crinkled, and has been extremely disease resistant in our test garden. The fully double 3 inch blooms are produced in clusters of up to 7, which open sequentially over a long period. In fact, it is generally one of the first Gallicas to start blooming, and the last to finish. The blossom color is a blend of mauve, deep pinks and glowing crimson, varying with weather conditions. There is a nice fragrance as well, but not overly strong. A very nice addition to the Gallica class. Not suitable for climates warmer than zone 8. Photo copyright Paul Barden 2009. Introduced in 2003.
