Overview

Dreaming Spires is one of the first roses to greet visitors to our gardens and is much in demand here. It seems to lift the spirits of all who see it. Bright, but not harsh, yellow blooms open first with a bronze tint on the reverse but fade to slightly paler tones to reveal red stamens. The bloom and color in autumn is especially lovely. Unlike some other yellow climbers, this rose manages to retain character and charm as it grows paler and the petals fall away. Dreaming Spires seems the perfect name for this lovely English rose and recalls the perfect week I once spent at Oxford. Introduced in 1973.
