I never met an Alba I didn’t like and Celestial is one of the best. It is hard sometimes to verbalize what makes some of the antiques so special. I think Conrad Johnson, a landscape designer, who understands and loves the old roses, summarizes it best when he says simply, “They’re subtle”. Celestial, or Celeste, is so understated and yet it is perfection itself. Unknown before 1793.
