Bred by Paul Barden (United States, 2008). Miniature. Blend of magenta purple with a darker grape purple overlay, some white at the base of petals. Strong, damask, old rose, raspberry fragrance. 45 to 75 petals. Average diameter 1.25″. Very large, very full (41+ petals), cluster-flowered, in large clusters, old-fashioned, reflexed bloom form. Prolific, continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season. Small, pointed buds. Medium, bushy, thornless (or almost), upright. Medium, semi-glossy, dark green foliage. 3 to 5 leaflets. Height: 1′ to 20″ (30 to 50cm). Width: 8″ to 15″ (20 to 40cm). USDA zone 6a and warmer. Can be used for beds and borders, container rose, cut flower, garden, rock garden or specimen. Vigorous. benefits from winter protection in colder climates. flowers drop off cleanly. heat tolerant. Protect tender new spring growth from hard freezes that may cause canker, die-back and death of the plant. . Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you’ll probably find you’ll have to prune a little more than that. This rose is named for Carolyn Supinger, Ralph Moore’s manager at Sequoia Nursery for many years, and a very dear friend of mine. It is expected to be available commercially in 2013.
