Irregularly shaped double blooms open cream from apricot and yellow buds and then fade to gardenia white. Perhaps the most famous, and certainly the hardiest, of the wonderful Wichurana Ramblers. We have this rose going up in a tall Doug Fir where it receives just a bit of dappled sun. Blooms are more sparse in such a situation, but the effect, of party lanterns arrayed along the branches, is enchanting. In a sunny situation there is a massive display of bloom over an extended period in the spring with occasional individual blooms later in the season. The lax habit would make great ground cover on an embankment, etc. The dark green glossy foliage with slender, crimson new growth is evergreen in our Zone 8 gardens and always handsome. Introduced in 1900.
