Unconditional Love™

‘Unconditional Love’ is a moderately upright plant, growing about 24″ tall and perhaps 18″ wide. The 1.5 inch bright red blooms are produced in clusters of three to fifteen and hold their color very well, even in mid-summer. The bloom’s form is fully double and often there is a tiny button eye at the center, reminscent of an Old Garden Rose. There is a mild fragrance, mostly from the mossing on the buds. The foliage is dark and plentiful. The overall effect is very bold and colorful, either in a mixed bed or as a specimen in a container. ‘Unconditional Love’ thrives both in the garden and in pots. Since receiving this rose into our collection, I am especially impressed with how long the blooms last—two to three weeks!— in excellent condition. What a perfect patio or gift rose. I plan to have several in bloom in our courtyard for the holidays this year. A clever person could probably devise a way to keep the blooms fresh in a holiday wreath. Several small plants would be perfect in the house for Valentine’s Day. Introduced in 2006.
