Like the other Eglantines, in rain, or when stroked between the fingers the leaves of Catherine Seyton give off the scent of green apples. This makes a very large arching shrub which can also be trained to climb. In warm long season climates—California, etc.—it is said to bloom well in the fall. In most Zones expect spring bloom only. A generous hip display can be counted on in the fall. All in all, a sturdy delightful rose. Introduced in 1895.
