Overview

Introduced by Jack Harkness in 1972, 'Compassion' is widely considered one of the finest climbing roses of the 20th century. This award-winning variety is celebrated for its powerful, sweet fragrance and its sophisticated color, which is a blend of salmon-pink, apricot, and orange. The blooms feature a classic, high-centered hybrid tea shape that opens into large, full flowers. Unlike many lanky climbers, 'Compassion' grows as a stiff, upright pillar reaching about ten feet, with exceptionally healthy, dark bronze-green foliage. It is a reliable repeat bloomer that produces flowers from the ground all the way to the top of the plant, making it a perfect choice for fences, walls, or sturdy obelisks.
